Singer Vijay Prakash attributes his success to the guidance of his mentors. Coming from a family of Carnatic musicians, he received musical training from his grandfather, Shri Lakshmipathy Bhagavathar, and his parents, the late Shri K Ramashesha and Smt Lopa Mudra. In honor of Teacher's Day, the Jai Ho singer emphasizes the significance of having mentors and the constant process of learning. He believes that knowledge of music is vast and diverse, with every musician knowing only a fraction of it. Vijay Prakash expresses gratitude to those who have shared their wisdom with him, acknowledging that music serves as a bridge that connects him to people and the world. Through his experience as a music student and a judge on various shows, he emphasizes the importance of being compassionate while giving feedback, recognizing the emotional aspect of music. The observation I've made is that the current generation approaches their relationship with teachers differently compared to when I was growing up. Respect nowadays can be shown without the fear that was customary in the past. I find it enlightening to learn from this new approach and strive to adapt my own mindset. Our development has not been solely driven by our conscious efforts to learn, but also by the dedication of our teachers to impart knowledge effectively. Despite my own struggles to fully concentrate on learning, the commitment of my teachers has been instrumental in shaping who I am today.
